The iconic Carré Esquisse Pierre Noire is a must-have in any drawing kit. Recognized by art academies for centuries and used by the greatest artists, such as Picasso, it is made from natural pigments and perfectly suited for realistic drawings, quick sketches, and studies of light and shadow. The leads of the Carré Esquisse Sanguine, Bistre, Noir, and Blanc Conté à Paris are slightly softer than those of the Crayons. Its black color is extremely intense, indelible, matte, and velvety. There are 3 graduations available: HB, B, 2B. It is the degree of firing that allows for a variation in grade. H (Hard in English) for hardness, B (Bold in English) for softness. The higher the number, the harder or softer the pencil. The Carré B is therefore a soft Square.
